Hi everyone,

Sorry I have not been on recently, I have been finding things difficult after losing my dad, and spending every moment outside in the garden where I feel nearer to him. My garden is coming along beautiful and my greenhouse is better than it has looked in years. I will be up to speed soon and getting back in the swing of things on here.

I wish I could have made the lunch, but I was working and that was my last day there. Please organise something else soon hopefully nearer to the border so it's not as far to travel. Hope everyone is well and pain free.

Nice to be back Love Lorna xx BigGrin

Welcome back Laura

I understand how hard it is for you- it's now over a year since I lost my dear Dad and there are still so many things which catch me off guard. I often find mysef about to phone him, to ask his advice. Like you, I feel nearer to him in the garden. I'm not a particularly good gardener but I owe my interest and quite a few plants to him. I kept a special geranium plant, hard to get hold of, which he loved, and have managed to take several cuttings off it succesfully. I'm hoping to plant one on his grave next time I visit.

I've also been feeling this compulsion to visit his home village in Croatia. We went there twice when I was in my teens but haven't been back since. I don't speak the language and have no idea if any of my cousins still live there. Although it's in the mountains, it is quite accessible and I was delighted to discover that there's a regular bus service. Looking at photos, and on google maps it might not be too difficult. Hopefully next year if I can persuade hubby to go.

I hope you're not too bad RA wise. I'm reasonably ok at the moment.

Hi Lorna,

Good to see you back on here!
I can well understand you missing your Dad and wanting to spend time in the garden where you feel nearer to him.
Hope the weather is kind to you so you can spend lots of time in the garden this summer and keep your Dad's memory alive.
Also hope you are still keeping well.

Love, Doreen xx

Welcome back Lorna! I bet your Dad would love your garden, it sounds in a funny sort of way as if he is helping you to get on with tending it!
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

HI Julie, its funny you should say that because I do feel he is guiding me, I look around then make plans for the next day then come out and do something completely different, not stopping until I am finished. Dad was always telling me I had too much in my garden, well now I am cutting bushes and shrubs back and clearing it a bit. I use the same nursery for plants he used and have grown on the most wonderful selection. I feel him around me outside.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome back.

Lorna xx Smile
